Trading Post

This trading post (circa. 1752) existed near the confluence of Little Caraway and Caraway Creeks in Randolph Co., North Carolina.  The trading post was located on the Occoneechee Indian trading path between what is now Parkersburg, Virginia and the Catawba Indian villages near Waxhaw, South Carolina.  The artist’s great-great-great grandfather operated the establishment and his father was born about one-half mile from the trading post location.
