Coltrane Mill

Built on the Deep River in northwestern Randolph Co., North Carolina in the late 1880’s by Elijah Mendenhall.  The original dam at the mill site constructed of rock brought from a Moore County quarry in 1789.  The original three-story structure was destroyed by fire. The structure depicted in the painting was razed in 2003 as the property will be submerged beneath the waters of the reservoir behind the newly constructed Randleman Dam.
